Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve - 2011
This year our Expedition took place at a beautiful destination to observe nature
near Lima, the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve; located at 290 km sout
h east from Lima (an 8 hours drive). With its 221,268.48 hectares, it is one of
the areas with the most beautiful landscapes in Peru. We have to mention the
snowy peaks like Pariacacca, blue water lagoons, surrounded by white waterfalls,
blue sky, canyons, streams, queñuales forests and Raimondi puyas. Also, in this
area we can find archaeological complexes and a great diversity of birds.
The main objective of this Reserve is to protect the upper waters of the Cañete
River and the Pachacayo River Basin, as well as the different and diverse ecosystems.
Their inhabitants have learned to coexist in armory with the environment, and of
course with respect for the biodiversity of the area.
